Benjam-isms

Ben is at such a cute little age. He does so many things that Cal and I ooh and ahh over. I thought I should make a list so we didn't forget.

  • He calls Coco and Bella while he slaps his leg. After he yells their names, he whistles (actually he just puckers up and blows, but he thinks he's whistling)
  • He calls for his dad the same way. Instead of yelling for his daddy he yells "Cal" and whistles for him too. (I'm not sure where he learned this from :)
  • He loves to jump on his little trampoline. So much so that now he has gotten very good at jumping on the ground.
  • He is a CLIMBER! I was at the bar the other day and I look over and he is standing on his high chair. I have no idea how he got there. He likes to climb on the kitchen table, end table, top of the couches. He can pull himself up with his upper body. Strong little guy. He likes to stand on the end table and then fall into your arms. So trusting. Sometimes he falls when I don't even know he's going to.
  • He has a little stool. When I am cooking in the kitchen, he moves it to wherever I am so that he can see what is going on.
  • He has become obsessed with Sesame Street. He LOVES Elmo's World. He dances everytime the song comes on.
  • Church-not going so great. Sacrement meeting is exhausting! Cal and I take turn just trying to entertain him and keep him in the row. It takes fruit snacks, string cheese, goldfish, and lots of books and toys to make it through the meeting.
  • Nursery is not much better. He has been having seperation anxiety. Our nursery leader is a saint and assures me that he'll be fine. Sometimes I'll leave RS to check on him. I can hear him screaming as soon as I walk out of Relief Society. So sad. When I peak in the window, she tells me that he's fine and things will get better. Aaaghh, it kills me!!!
  • He loves books. His favorite, right now, is Baby Einstein. He loves the cow in the book because he loves to make the noise.
  • He is a little mimic. He makes the noises he hears. When I try to get him to make them again, no luck. He's great at doggie barks as long as he wants to do them. If I try to get him to, he just laughs at me.
  • He loves to put his hands behind his head and just chill. It's so cute and very grown up looking.
  • He is very happy. He laughs all the time. (except in nursery) He likes to work a crowd. If he does something that he deems "cute", he just smiles and looks around the room, making sure all eyes are on him.
  • He has been OBSESSED with the phone since about 11 months old. He LOVES talking on the phone. His favorite person to call is his grandpa. They have long, exciting conversations. (My dad is very sweet to take his calls. Ben even had to call him while he was fishing in Alaska). He paces around the house while he talks. (another trait he gets from his grandpa. When I try to get the phone from him he runs away laughing.)
  • Mmmmmm.....anytime he eats, we get a big mmmmmmm from him.
  • He's become a great hugger and kisser. He attacks his sisters with slobbery open mouth kisses and hugs that knock them over. Love hurts!
  • He loves to play in the refridgerator. If Cal or I open the fridge, we have to hurry and close it or we have to drag him out kicking and screaming.
  • He is getting to be very helpful. We can tell him to get something and he will. He will throw things in the trash when asked. (I'm a little nervous about this one though. I'm afraid of what will "accidentally" get thrown away.
  • He loves his new snowboots. He can't bend his ankles in them so it's hard to walk in them, but that doesn't slow him down.
  • If he gets mad he will point his finger at you, furrow his eyebrows, and grunt uh uh at you.
  • He likes to steal your spot. If he knows where you are headed to sit down, he will run in front of you, jump in your spot, and laugh.

Matthew has some of the same mannerisms. It will be fun to get them together during the holidays.
